So she irrationally blames herself with *massive* survivor's guilt thinking "If I hadn't been born they would still be alive."

So she feels she has to earn the gift of life and freedom their sacrifice won for her. They gave so much, the least she can do is to devote that life to helping others.

Doesn't help that she was born very premature, so her badass powerful mother wasn't there to help the others (they were an adventuring party/team). Digs has convinced herself that if her mom had been there, her dad and Rajak's parents would have survived as they always did on past missions.

…her father and Rajak's parents (her adopted brother) died in the battle to free the city along with hundreds of others. Being born on that day and honored every anniversary, she has grown up in that shadow and acutely feels the weight of it on her.

Hmm... in my fantasy adventure serial Felcrown, top 2 might be:

a 6' tall mushroom-person psionic himbo, and

a gnoll born without legs who uses corpses to make machines with her family but in a very wholesome way and for some reason developed a Minnesota/Scottish weird mix accent in the writing

I never really had this bond. Not sure if it's because I'm a little older than a millennial but more likely it's because my dad would unfailingly make a copy of every movie we rented from Blockbuster.

So we had shelves of mediocre movies we watched once but could watch again if we ever wanted.😅
