One character that surprised me in Felcrown is Dignity's badass mom, Hope Dunandrien. I knew she'd be a former adventurer but between that and moms being tough in general, she is unstoppable and become a really fun side character.

Have to ponder my other MCs, but it occurred to me earlier today that Kyle from my rock romance serial needs to justify doing something nice for himself - even getting the meal he wants rather than what he feels he *should* have.
He always does nice things for everyone else but never himself.

With my shipwrecked familiars, the warlocks they serve have their own story that mirrors the MCs', but only getting snapshots without transitions gives it a humorous slant.
In Felcrown, there's a bit, but mostly hints at a larger past generation's story than a concurrent one.

Then they go to the plane that best fits their life.
