"What if we have all internalized the belief that we are entirely on our own, and that interdependence and cooperation are signs of weakness?

That would be a pretty good way to create a society devoid of any form of collective organising; devoid of much real hope."

If Your Party is to avoid repeating the mistakes of Corbyn's Labour, it doesn't just need better leaders at the top.

It needs to become an organisation full of leaders at every level.

Your Party Needs More Leaders, Not Less
Building a powerful, democratic movement is the only way to beat the far right.

“The real shortage is of affordable housing, because ownership is concentrated in fewer and fewer hands. In… major cities, where the jobs are, land and housing are hoarded by investors, private landlords, and developers.”

Excellent stuff from @graceblakeley.substack.com. People believe that if you build more houses then the price will come down. This simplistic analysis ignores the fact that the demand side is virtually unlimited due to the super rich wanting to buy up all of the assets.

Lets be even more brutally honest - a 'libertarian' government whose policies were as competent as the judgement the leader exhibited when getting crypto-scammed, being bailed out by a country best described as state capitalism with "American characteristics"
graceblakeley.substack.com
"It’s absolutely hilarious that a nominally ‘libertarian’ government is being bailed out by the largest and most powerful state in the world.

It just goes to show – capitalism cannot survive without the state."

What I read this week
Another 'libertarian' government needs a bailout, the UK needs to deal with its stagflation problem, and Vanuatu needs to stop itself from sinking.

Excellent article. The 'idea we are all little capitalists' is the dominant political-cultural frame of our time, leading to the main political choice appearing between 2 forms of capitalism: technocratic, rule based vs nativist, rule damaging. The great challenge for the left is to break this frame

In the US at least, the housing crisis is really a crisis of social policy. The privatization of worker pensions (many service workers have nothing) and inadequacy of social security has forced us all to look to private housing wealth as our only stable source of longterm security.

Kysytään mihin kukaan ihminen tarvitsee miljardien omaisuuksia.
