I’ve been craving a book where the sentences stick with me. Where it isn’t just the story that’s great, but the word choice, the syntax, the metaphor. I’m two days into The Dance Tree by Kiran Millwood Hargrave and it’s delivering on every level. 😍

Effective Cocaine PSA: If you snort too much coke you might think it's okay to insult Paul Dano, causing the entire internet to post about how much they fucking hate you right now.

It's been a crazy week at work:
We were in the @nytimes.com this week, and we are so thankful to writer Rachel Louise Snyder for bringing such attention and nuance to the everyday challenges of domestic abuse survivors and the agencies (like us) who seek to help them. nyti.ms/4mN1KLO

Where The Red Fern Grows. WRECKED me.
Screw your favorite book, which was the first that upset you?

A Wrinkle in Time was mine. The possessed baby scared the everloving shit out of me. My babysitter had to call my mom to come home early because I was hysterical.

Beyond excited to have this story published with @theforge.bsky.social today! Accomplice is a short story about moms and daughters, nuance, and the choices an environment of domestic abuse can force upon us.

Hey shitbag, we’re not worried about dolls and pencils. We’re worried about whole fucking schools and entire safety nets.

A couple weeks ago, survivors who are taking part in our Survivor Storytellers group got the pick from a selection of journals to use as their place to start writing their stories, and we can't WAIT to see what they do with this space to write and explore. 💜

Nonprofit work is hard right now. For all the reasons. But tonight, I got to spend the evening working with survivors of domestic abuse and sex trafficking on how to use storytelling to re-take ownership of their experiences, even if it never leaves their private journal, and it was a joy to do.

I always have one "traditional" book for home and one audiobook for commuting that I'm reading at the same time, and I love it when they overlap in mind-bending ways, like while I've been reading The Buffalo Hunter Hunter at the same time as Days Without End. <3

Crashing the economy — which is Trump/Musk’s goal — makes rich people exponentially richer. They’ve all been waiting for this like the Hermès Paris Winter sale. They buy securities at steep discounts while interest rates tank so they can buy what’s left of our already diminished housing market.
