Weekend reads

I have three books I'm currently reading and I'm switching them up, depending on my mood.

There's a line in this book about how "there are no two qualities of light the same, no matter where you go. Australia is bright and hard. Galfway has a smudgeness to it, a tender haze."

Roro Reads.

It's destination appropriate so I left "One Hundred Years of Solitude" muna.

This is how I actually choose the books I'm going to read. There's a reason - if not a common theme - with my TBR.

Next year I'll do random shit. Make it a most chaotic TBR.

Full on mayhem.

A person on a bicycle is by far the most energy-efficient among animals and machines per distance traveled relative to body weight. The bicycle is magic.

Pessimist: The cup is half empty

Book hoarder: The cup is not where you put books, get your self a proper bookshelf. Or two.

Pessimist: The cup is half empty

Most bra shops: The cup that fits you perfectly is beyond what we make available, but do you want to try going up in band size even if it will never be a perfectly comfortable fit?

The other exploding area of dark money in politics is the crypto lobby.

They have dumped insane sums in elections in both parties (Dem primaries + GOP general elections).

It’s pretty bad
It's called cryptocurrency, but new FDIC data shows that most Americans don't use it as currency—they mainly hold on to it for price gains, not for transfers or purchases.

I see this as the main sticking point. People who oppose bike lanes generally view cycling as a purely recreational activity. In their minds, bike lanes on arterials are the equivalent of placing tennis courts on arterials. Changing that perception will be crucial.
People are not riding bikes for fun or because their car is in the shop, they are riding them to get around the city and live their lives in a more affordable, healthier (and often much faster) way.

Just finished reading The Road and had absolutely loved it and finding out about this.

I feel equal parts disappointed and outraged. Are there no more male authors left that aren't complete scumbags?

Still reeling over Niel Gaiman, honestly.
Vanity Fair's weird story about Cormac McCarthy grooming an abused 16-year-old girl and then stealing her stories and voice for his books thing has really bothered me (and a lot of other women). A bit more on that subject from my memoir Recollections of My Nonexistence about muse as trap....

Visited Booksale Robinson's Bacolod before they close.

Will post the books I got.

I have so many memories sa Booksale na to. Malapit lang to dati kung saan ako una nag trabaho sa Bacolod and I used to spend a few hours a day here, browsing and buying books to de-stress.
