UK "watchdog" bodies/agencies, Ofcom, NAO, FCA, Electoral Commission etc. (there are 90+ of them) suffer from a combination of underfuning, understaffing, restricted powers, timidity and deference to government. Give them more money, more personnel, more freedom to operate.

Because the law is an expensive tool to use; because this means it is mostly rich people who get to use it; because rich people are usually men; the law has become a tool of the patriarchy, one which men use to impose their will on women.
In situations where the law tries to decide this for you, I hope there are people like @goodlawproject.bsky.social willing to stand up for your rights to not be property.

I stopped reading or watching Italian msm reports on Ukraine long ago. Endless stream of "Russia advancing", "how much longer can Ukraine resist?", "deadly new Russian missiles", "west tired of propping up Ukraine", "Ukraine must give up territory". Just stick a Russian flag on the page or screen.
