"There just isn’t enough time. There’s only what we manage to make of it—what we build, what we protect, what we remember to carry to the car. The gas mask. The snacks. The question we forgot to ask. The name of the person taken." My latest.

It’s also important to flood social media with this jury nullification toolkit so that potential jurors (You?) read it before they become actual jurors.

I'm genuinely starting to think that the people who say they want to see American's really fight back are really saying they want a specific kind of visible, stereotypical depiction of protest, and have zero zero tolerance for the kind of groundwork it takes to make change happen.

related, when the president is invading our own country, waging war on our own people, i don't wanna see dems give the GOP shit they ask for, don't wanna hear shit bout 'we hope our friends across the aisle will work with us on bipartisan solutions to the problems they cause' i don't want none of it
grudgie.bsky.social
Look. Invading our own country is about as straightforward a case as you can have for impeachment. The GOP abandoning the Constitution is kind of the only story there is and it gets no coverage.

Guys. I just had a crazy idea. What if the President DIDN’T deploy troops in American cities. Just a thought. Have we tried that before?

Hopefully the whole Bari Weiss thing and Ezra Klein thing starts waking people up to the fact that corporate media is mostly populated with mediocre people who have made millions and gained unbelievable influence because they threaten nothing and tell wealthy people exactly what they want to hear.

Do not fall for secessionist propaganda or “Texas is invading Illinois”! Pay attention to who is saying this, who is screwing you over, and what their end goal is.
quote from book THEY KNEW about grim realities of secession in the US, written in 2021, published in 2022, applicable to now

Anyway followed you on the bird site until it became too much of a toxic shit hole. Agree with you about a lot of things and have learned from you. Think you need to consider a few things before you continue punching down on this. But I have work to do over here whether it meets your approval or not

Look you have a bigger presence than me online. There isn’t much I can do to fight your framing here but you are erasing/trivializing mountains of resistance work that millions of Americans are doing just because it doesn’t manifest the way it does in other countries. It’s disingenuous.
grassoisgreener.bsky.social
Yes, a lot of Americans - particularly the most marginalized - HAVE been out here fighting back for decades. A significant amount of people in so-called “red states” among them. Millions of Americans ARE fighting back. However they can. Even if it doesn’t look like the way you think it should.

Like there are so many reasons why a comparison between the US and Italy or anywhere in the EU is not apples to apples. I want to believe people just don’t realize how precarious American life is when they ask this because otherwise I have to assume it just feels better to victim-blame than help.

Our ability to get medical care hinges upon staying with our employer and we only get 10-15 days of PTO if we are lucky. Minor medical emergencies can bankrupt you. Childcare costs more than a mortgage…
grassoisgreener.bsky.social
Are people really serious when they ask this? Decades of hostile policy means we do not have the kind of organized labor to launch a general strike. Protesters here get beaten, shot, sprayed with chemical agents and rammed with cars.

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

"Jones, 27, is among the residents left at 7500 S. South Shore Drive who are trying to piece together what remains after an early morning, high-powered federal immigration raid led to the arrests of dozens of their neighbors at their South Shore apartment building."
Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'
The Department of Homeland Security said federal agents with Border Patrol, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested 37 people in the raid.

I don't want 100 troops sent to Chicago. It's a major escalation that must be opposed. I also want folks to understand that the agents that have been attacking us at Broadview are more heavily armed and elaborately, tactically outfitted than National Guard troops would be. We're already in some shit

Are all you white media punidts who have been cannonizing Charlie Kirk also going to start praising Nick Fuentes for practicing politics "exactly the right way" now that it looks like the suspect was inspired by Fuentes' "willingness to debate"?

Or nah?

Every morning our garden gate is unlatched and ajar. But every clever type of animal that could manipulate the latch could also just climb over. I’m opposed to surveillance culture but I’m dying to know who is pilfering the veg!
A latched gate in front of a kitchen garden with yellow flowers to the left, a vine covered arch in the center under which sits a small table and chairs, with many unruly tomato plants to the right.
