Let me be outraged and annihilated, but may Thy enormous Library be justified, for one instant, in one being.

Hot take: I know lots of people here are anti-AI, but I think this sort of thing will be huge for underserved communities, the elderly, people who have handicaps or who care for those people. It'll also decrease car deaths overall and drunk driving. I like.

Which is just to say that the $1100 you mentioned is properly thought of as a liability, not as “reserves”. Reserves are by definition an asset of the bank. (E.g., the amount they have in their account at the Fed.)

I don’t think this is right. From the bank’s perspective, it has $100 of liabilities (it owes you $100 for your deposit) and $1000 of assets (the original loan). When Liam deposits the $1000, the bank now has $1000 in assets and $1100 in liabilities.

AFAICT it sounds like it’s important to distinguish reserve requirements from equity requirements. Reserve requirements have to do with providing liquidity, not with preventing overleverage. (Still trying to wrap my head around this though.)

I had a really dumb running joke with a friend in high school where I’d say “I’m gonna watch The Thing tonight?” and he’d say “Ok but what are you watching?” and I’d say “The Thing!” and he’d say “That’s not specific!!” and then we weren’t friends anymore

I get that you’re rewatching something, but what is it you’re rewatching?

they know, of course. you've grown reclusive, always cutting or scavenging for scrap to cut. they wish you'd ask for help. you never do. but you do accidentally slash your arm BAD and it rattles you big time. you never go back to it. soon you'll look up at the sky and wonder, was it always this blue
