I think we need to start referring to things in units of 'world hungers' like, it's estimated to take $40 billion/year to solve world hunger. That $97 billion data center? that's almost 2.5 world hungers. ICE detention center allocated $11 billion a year? that's 1/4 a world hunger.

Check engine light is such bullshit. First it can mean anything, even as minor as you needing a new gascap. Second I can watch movies in my car but I need a special reader for an error message? Third so many problems don't trip it.

I've really been enjoying Dungeon Crawler Carl. This LitRPG series has the important distinction of likable protagonists.

I love iodized salt. I love fluoridated water. I love enriched flour.

I love public health tools that save lives and improve quality of health just by silently existing. They're amazing.

GOP are the pschyo high school bullies making your life hell. Democrats are the teachers/school admin seeing it happen right in front of them and not doing a damn thing to stop it and then blaming you.
the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

among the many things streaming services need to stop doing is playing something else after I've finished watching all of something. I don't mean playing the next episode I mean I finished the show and it picks a "related" show and starts playing it.

you've been fighting in the rebellion for years and this guy who is friends with Han Solo is made general. Han being general is one thing, helped take out the death star and has served for years but here's this other dude, who might have sold out his city to the Empire and he gets to be General?

devs from the game have clarified that they experimented early on when it was new but decided to not use it and every part of the final product is manmade. I can understand that at least. The game is not in my budget right now anyways but that's very different than the game being developed with AI.
Really disappointed by the news about Clair Obscur. I was looking forward to trying it, but now I never will. Not buying games made with AI.

I'm fed up of the discourse - "Is it a Christmas movie or not?" Who cares? It's a phenomenal action movie, and watching it at this time of year just feels right. You're doing yourself a disservice if you haven't yet sat down to watch The Terminator.

I've never played a divinity game. After BG3 I was considering checking the next one because of the stellar job Larian had done. Today's news has made it so that I will never play the upcoming divinity game. I don't care what portion of the game it was, if AI was involved I'm not buying the game.

Again I say: how fucking interesting that remote work technology is bad and not worth adopting despite all research pointing to productivity gains, but genAI which offers NOTHING is so important to adopt and force on people who have no use for it despite all the horrible things genAI does
