Video games, covid, and neurosis, not necessarily in that order. Providing 100 words when 10 would suffice since the mid-1980s. He/him

would like to talk about dragon quest

pfal.us (podcast i used to make)
youtube.com/@tvsmusic6398 (music i used to play)
Pinned
i just want a moderate number of people to pay modestly positive attention to things i say and/or do and then immediately forget i exist and leave me alone is that really too much to ask

not beating the “AI art is lazy” allegations

it’s weird to be trying to raise children that become decent human beings in a country that constantly uplifts, rewards and protects unabashedly terrible people

nominating clair obscur for four steam awards despite having played it on PS5 because i'm not a liar, the game of the year is the game of the year

there's something so pathetic about the "now you can do art too!" AI sales pitch

it reminds me of those plastic instruments you can buy for kids, except if they were sold to adults who just hit the "demo" button and expect to be called real musicians for doing such a good job hitting the button
All AI music does is devalue the work done by human artists. It’s not accessibility, it’s exploitation. We need real protections for artists against AI!

BTW — even if you had access to this AI startup as a child, you still wouldn’t know how to make music.

i suspect the things i think about people like ryan zickgraf are *far* uglier than the things they think about people like me; it's just i can read their thoughts in published articles they got paid to produce, whereas mine just clang around endlessly in my head raising my blood pressure
well, they’re consistent.

I have never seen a stronger case against the existence of the christian god than this man holding a rosary without it burning his fucking hands
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

why go to therapy when you can simply place the burden of your unresolved emotional baggage on your partner and the life you bring into the world together

they probably won’t even notice you spending your entire life resenting them for not fixing something that was broken long before they got there

ella is taking her first long nap all week; i spent the entire time making dinner for my wife and just got done, so let's see how long it takes her to wake up now that i'm not actively performing a task

why can't he ever challenge scientific orthodoxy by doing something helpful like shoveling great fistfuls of asbestos into his mouth
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

I know not everything is about the pandemic but I do think a recent, resounding message that other people don’t matter and no one owes you anything has not been a good thing for us as humans beings.
I really think this kind of thing is a bad idea, because who wants to start a relationship *with a doctor’s office* by realizing the first thing that happened in that relationship is that they tried to trick you?
I went to make a doctor’s appointment today and got transferred to an AI “person” and I can’t overstate my revulsion when it fooled me for the first ten seconds, so that I was trying to be friendly and pleasant, and I realized it I was trying to be polite to a machine.

the thing about the cdc no longer being trustworthy is that the cdc hasn’t been trustworthy for several years now and this is just another step along the path they were already on

I wish I could just skip to the point in the future where we retrospectively understand how impeccably stupid we were about this but not so far into the future that the memory becomes distant enough for us to do the exact same stupid shit the next time the opportunity presents itself
A majority of U.S. adults (59%) say they don’t want to get an updated COVID-19 vaccine. This is roughly identical to the share who said in October 2024 that they probably wouldn’t get the updated vaccine.

wishing this dude a terminal case of irresponsibility

like maybe the irresponsibility went undetected but it spread to his bones and there’s nothing to be done but make him comfortable as possible until the irresponsibility takes its toll
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."
