Video games, covid, and neurosis, not necessarily in that order. Providing 100 words when 10 would suffice since the mid-1980s. He/him

would like to talk about dragon quest

i just want a moderate number of people to pay modestly positive attention to things i say and/or do and then immediately forget i exist and leave me alone is that really too much to ask
it makes me genuinely happy to imagine people watching kid rock's weird neck folds vibrate as he croaks out "my name is roooooooooooooooooooooooob.......rob RITCHIE" and thinking this is where the *real* half time show is, this right here is what america is all about
Based on the summary from @patfinnerty.bsky.social, the only things people missed from the TPUSA 'show' was a low quality electric guitar Star Spangled Banner, a blatantly out of tune fiddle, and Kid Rock now goes by Rob Ritchie. I also think he's a year out from dropping a Christian rock album.

i'm just not sure the term "bombshell" is correct in this context

it's like that fable about the tortoise and the hare

you know, the one where the tortoise and the hare have a race and the hare wins despite making zero effort and not giving the slightest shit because why would he have to; he can go *super* fast
I'm going to win.

jon's school had a (legit, not a drill) shelter in place immediately before dismissal today, which meant sitting outside his school in my car for 80 minutes with a screaming baby and no idea what was going on

do not recommend

(everybody's fine but i'm still not 100% sure what was going on)

saw someone introduce their case for AI use in art by referring to the notion of "talent" as gatekeeping, and i was going to make a self-effacing joke about how lack of talent has never stopped me before but typing out that ridiculous notion depressed me enough that i don't want to joke anymore

a level of being pathetic on the internet I’ve not encountered since “making sad song lyrics your AIM away message”
it’s genuinely reassuring to me that this is the most miserable and paranoid person in the entire world

the NES Works about shadowgate contained a brief snippet of this 35-second loop from the Deja Vu NES port and it got in my head and it’s not stopping and now I can’t remember life before it started

maybe it’s like the ring video and if I pass it along it’ll leave me

sorry

I would struggle to explain to someone lacking context why this picture of three dudes and two puppets makes me as happy as it does but I would still have a fun time trying

there's a new dragon quest tomorrow but i don't think i'll get to it for a bit because i've not yet finished the dragon quest that just came out a little while ago and also i've only gotten one ending in the fucking *excellent* new silent hill and man the world is a hellpit but video games are cool

i just discovered somebody put me on a list called "A LIST SPECIFICALLY FOR THE WORST EVER ANALOGY GUY" because of my one post from last month and it's just me on the list

it's still weird to think about having made a bunch of strangers mad at me at once but also that's genuinely pretty funny

quite a few people whose sole expectation for a democratic presidential candidate is that they make donald trump go away seem to have uncharitable thoughts about "single-issue voters"

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

if your “common sense” allows for the continued existence of a wildly overfunded squad of armed 4chan racists that exists specifically to harm people then your sense is only in common with fascists and should be completely disregarded by actually sensible people
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

i readily trust nadia oxford on matters of dragon quest, and she is extremely correct about kiefer's weird, weird face

it also occurs to me that while i don't like the idea of a bunch of stuff getting cut, i almost certainly wouldn't be able to recall what was actually missing anyway
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Review: Smooth Remake, OK Game
Reimagined is a pleasantly streamlined remake of the series' black-sheep entry, but its so-so cast and linear structure keep it from being among the best Dragon Quest games

If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Yes, Peter decided that the continued existence of our democracies isn't compatible with his desired level of personal freedom.

An absolute enemy of humanity.

i know i say this a lot but i really and truly cannot wait to not vote for john fetterman

i am contemplating becoming a democrat specifically and exclusively to get to vote against him in a primary
Here's compromised John Fetterman bragging about working with grifting MAGA Katie Britt while
unaccountable masked goins murder people in the streets.

Also: No mention of the epstein files.

Primary, defeat and hurl this man's career into the sun.

i'm reading a lot about stuff getting yanked out of the original for this remake, and i'm not happy about it

on the other hand, if i had to pick one dq game to yank stuff out of it'd be this one

i suspect i'm going to like this very much while still weirdly missing when it was a big ol' slog
