hey remember when a bunch of middle-aged drunk korean lawmakers climbed the locked gates to the national assembly to hold an emergency session after the president gave illegal orders to the military, all of which ended with said president being sentenced to prison

Anyway, curious what possible rationale the DOJ could have for redacting those sections saying that Epstein paid off witnesses to their "criminal sex trafficking and abuse conduct," threatened harm, to "release damaging stories about them," and telling them to "destroy evidence."
Ok. Now had a chance to check and, well, at least some docs do appear to be straight up classic redaction fail. And there are some *interesting* bits here.

60 minutes CECOT segment. Recorded through my browser. HD quality. Not phone. Spread it around. If you're press, it's yours. Go nuts.

It's streaming on a Canadian website, but there is no telling for how long.

I think this post nails the actual problem, for researchers at least—AI hallucinations would simply not be a problem in academic work if we’d not normalized citation-as-signaling rather than actual engagement—you can only cite a fake paper if you’re not in the habit of reading the papers you cite

another example of AI as tracer dye, exposing an already existing problem (and, of course, significantly worsening it)

Do not cite an academic paper unless you’ve read it

Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is.

GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart.

But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.

ideas, like gardens, need time and sunlight and proper hydration to grow
YES! this is what techbros who have let their creative selves wither call "procrastination" or "inefficiency" and try to technologise away, not understanding that it is the source of creativity and imagination and everything good
When I sit down to write I'm not consciously pulling from my notes, I'm drawing on the 6 months I spent reading biographies, watching hours of interviews, etc. There is a volume of research, of effort & time that is required to create something meaningful to draw from.

great news: for the past like 5 years I’ve been referencing Tanya Short @tanyaxshort.bsky.social on “orthagonality” in procgen character design & no one including me has remembered where the thing is I’m talking about. well I finally found it! it’s not an article, it’s a GDC vault talk, & it’s here

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

99% of rpg zines and books should have page numbers.

And that's just the start. There's actually a lot of technique and intentionality behind things like page numbers, running headers, etc.

baffling that politicians are not being more proactive about gAI being an imminent threat

at a *minimum*, public disclosures and visible watermarks should be mandatory, and outputs lacking these should result in fines

Finally deciding I might wanna open up for commissions of these after having done quite a few as free raffle busts - if anyone's interested :>

Introductory price for scaled chars $450, feathered/furred chars $580 (Australian dollars, not USD).

this is one of my favorite winter photos i have ever taken.

not just because of the balance, the moment, or the light, but because i am terrified of birds and i faced my fear for the shot.

there were seriously so many, i almost bailed. glad i didn't.
