How can Scotland's education reform agenda advance the government's key priorities of eradicating child poverty, growing the economy, and tackling the climate emergency?

@royalsoced.bsky.social asked the question, I researched and wrote about it, and the findings are here

Over 60 people came to Aberlour Parish Church of Scotland for the unveiling of textile banners addressing the legacies of slavery in the local area. The event is part of our Dr Jim MacPherson's research project, Legacies of Slavery in Scotland, bit.ly/46Dpf3Q
Colourful fabric banner, with square-shaped elements forming a quilt-like design. View of the church interior, with three textile banners hung on the wall.

“The law says he can’t do it so it’s not clear whether he can” is such a 2025 headline
ericlipton.nytimes.com
It is not clear that Mr. Trump’s image can be featured on a coin. An 1866 law enshrined a tradition that only deceased people could appear on U.S. currency to avoid the appearance that America was a monarchy. Trump admin is planning to do it anyway.

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:
Woman named as Archbishop of Canterbury in historic first

The 63-year-old archbishop-designate is married to Eamonn Mullally, with whom she has two children. Originally from Woking in Surrey, she was the UK's chief nursing officer from 1999 to 2004.

Have been trying to follow this and trying to understand what went wrong with the bid for CS funding last year. We love the Lanternhouse & would be very sad to see it close.

I hear ye. It's the one major thing I miss about NL.
growteachers.bsky.social
Yup, education. I arrived on a big boat in 1998. As a semi-Scot, moving to Scotland from NL wasn't 'migrating' - it was flitting. I seem to have graduated to 'migrant' only since Brexit and the language around it caused a sea-change in attitudes. My Glaswegian Maw is mightily unimpressed!

Just fuck off with this. How about start the conversation by highlighting how much immigrants contribute to the UK - not least by propping up the NHS and social care system!

Also - forced volunteering is not volunteering, it's unpaid labour.

There were no education events at Reform conference. Their only policies appear to be giving private schools their tax breaks back and changing the history curriculum to trumpet the benefits of empire.

Can’t get enough of this. @raskin.house.gov rubbing Nigel Farage’s nose in his self-confessed love of Putin as he’s forced to sit & watch is delicious beyond words

Sorry for the town's and your loss. Having moved to the area last year and having a SIL who is an architectural historian from Cumbernauld has given me a better understanding of the town's interesting social relationship with architecture.

I'm doing a couple of Edinburgh Festival Fringe events that day, and I am reliably informed that now is a good time to start shouting about it.
