They briefly leave us during the summer to go off and breed, but when the white-throated sparrows return, they come by the thousands. And the best part is, unlike many fall migrants, they keep us cheerful company all winter.
We've already admitted 10 white-throated sparrows this fall, including this one yesterday, They're all victims of window collisions. We can provide antiinflammatory medication, wound care, a safe place to recover and healthy food, but whether they survive may depend on the severity of their head trauma.
It can be hard to tell right away. Birds might be active following a collision, but then quickly decline after an hour or a day. For this reason, we always recommend bringing every window-collision victim to a wildlife rehabber for care.

Great story. Can't overstate the desperation in creative industries right now. Nearly every person I know who previously had a viable, or even lucrative, career in media/entertainment is in a financial panic, leaving longtime apartments, desperately taking any work they can find. It is really bad.
