I’m sorry but this is a red herring and muddies the issue. No, it is not OK for U.S. companies to have access to so much data and Congress should pass a data privacy law on that, too. But the fact that it hasn’t doesn’t negate that it’s worse* for a foreign adversary to use against our interests 1/
