In 2019, Rick Steves made a documentary about how fascism spread in Europe.
Worth an hour of your time to watch today.

Bike-lanes don’t cause traffic congestion.

Car dependency, dumb land-use sprawl, too many (& bigger) cars being driven too much taking up too much space, highly subsidized driving costs, and not enough choices in how to get around, ALL cause traffic congestion.

Think about it. THAT’S common sense.

WATCH: The gloves are off! It’s been an under-reported scandal for quite a while that Pierre Poilievre refuses to apply for security clearance. It was a scandal EVEN BEFORE the most recent efforts to undermine Canada’s democracy, sovereignty and economy from Trump, Musk and the GOP.

“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath

REMINDER: Those choosing to live in subsidized suburbs for a bigger house and yard are NOT also entitled to free-flow car traffic capacity (aka an “easy car commute”) into the city at the expense of the taxes, health, safety (hint: bike-lanes) & quality of life of city-dwellers.

READ: If you care about how we’ve been “planning” our cities and suburbs, this is REALLY important.

I’ve been saying this in ways for years now, but I haven’t put it in writing very much. I don’t use these kinds of words lightly or often. But too much patience is part of the problem.

Every study ever: Fewer cars, reliable transit, and safe active transportation options are good things.

Cities: Hmm I don't know, can we really trust every study ever done?

Not surprised that the UCP are lowering the fee that pharmacists get for administering vaccines but have no problem spending megabucks on their “tell the Feds” campaign.
