I am biased because he was a great colleague at grad school but I do think @hamremar.bsky.social "Fascists of the World, Unite?" is a very important contribution to debates about fascism internationalism in history and politics today. Do check it out and order it in your libraries.
Book cover (with the title above a drawing of four men raising their arms for the Roman salute)

The epilogue discusses reverberations of fascist internationalism in the Second World War and the postwar period and outlines the relevance of this history for understanding contemporary forms of far-right internationalism.

This cooperation was fuelled by shared ideas of ultranationalism, anti-communism, antisemitism, white supremacism, and Europeanism. Fascist internationalism, marked by contradictions and an Italo-German rivalry, emerged in the 1930s as a counter-reaction to liberal and communist internationalism.

My book analyzes the ideas and forms of international cooperation between Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and fascist movements from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, and Britain. The study examines how fascists attempted to unite across borders by forming international organizations.

Yesterday, my article on Fascist Regionalism: Nordic Cooperation among Scandinavian Fascist Parties in the 1930s was published in the Scandinavian Journal of History. It examines cooperation between the Nasjonal Samling, the DNSAP and the NSAP, based on Nordic racism, anticommunism and antisemitism

One main argument: "Recurring to the concept of fascism and finding comfort in a nostalgic rebooting of the grand struggles of the past is arguably ill-suited as a strategy in the face of what is a “darkness” of a different kind", meaning a postmodern era of "post-truth" in the 21st century

Interesting insights from the conceptual historians KølvraaI and Ifversen about the return of the concept fascism in relation to Trumpism in an article published in @conhistcon.bsky.social. They analyze how fascism functions as an analytical category
but also as a weaponized "Kampfbegriff".
