Got to spend quality time with @nestruck.bsky.social while he’s visiting Halifax tonight. Cathartic to see family after I missed our late cousin Stephen’s services. Awesome double header evening of a 22 Mins taping + first half of the Jays’ WS Game 3 at Durty Nelly’s together. 💙

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

The flu shot has saved me from getting the flu twice this year - probably every year. No other way to explain how others in my household caught it but not me! Always proud to get the shot as my mother worked on the team that developed a Canadian version in the 1990s #DrNestruck #famousNestrucks
The Trump administration has pulled this campaign explaining the benefits of getting a flu vaccine. Let's make sure it still gets coverage on social media. 🧪

Every day I thank my luckiest goddamn stars that the Canadian election wasn't held before the US election.

Trump winning, and the threats to our sovereignty, were a massive wake up call for Canadians. Some folks are still stuck in the fascist-disinformation bubble, but the rest of us are ACTIVATED.

If you thought it wasn’t possible—well, here we are. Musk pulled $80 million in funding authorized by Congress straight from NYC’s bank account. The federal government took the funds and called it a “clawback” of taxpayer money. A lot of others would simply call it stealing.

So, is it safe to say @bsky.app is the future of social media yet? Cus I’ve been here for ~3 weeks, my mental health rebounded 5x from constructive discussion as a viable alternative to FB/X, and… well frankly, I had a dream last week that @mcuban.bsky.social and I were hanging out. 🤭

My patriotism is higher than in many recent years. In addition to these things, when I see our flag I’m also reminded that #everychildmatters. We must move forward, together.

Please vote in the upcoming election for a united 🇨🇦 with due consideration for what’s happening to our ex-besties next door.
When people see the maple leaf, they see possibility. They see freedom. They see a helping hand.

They see Canada, and the best of our values.

Happy 60th to our flag. 🇨🇦

I’m not OK. So sad for my friends at NOAA, so sad for Mother Earth, and sad for science.

I once had the esteemed job of monitoring & calibrating oceanographic instruments/data in Cayman on a buoy co-managed by NOAA for 🪸 health. Not once did I think that NOAA would be destroyed 10 years later #RIP
Losing NOAA would be devastating. Project 2025 authors want to get rid of it because it monitors climate change, and privatize the information it currently provides for free, so you'll have to buy information about the weather and the winds (imperative for mariners).
I have covered NOAA and it’s work for like 15 years and this is brutal. If you’re there and want to chat or share anything, signal is davelevitan.26
