The FIFA pricing model for the World Cup penalises teams with the most loyal traveling support, typically this has been fans from across South America in recent tournaments. 2014/18/22 they brought the noise/numbers. Dynamic pricing model means FIFA will profit from their passion.

At least 40 journos have fled El Salvador in 2025.
There were 789 attacks against the press in 2024.
@elfaro.net moved its offices to Costa Rica in 2023.

We don't know what will happen to Mario in ES.

Teen Vogue probably doesn't ascribe to the idea that just because racism is a "core feature of culture warring," it doesn't merit coverage.

They will probably publish more about all this in the coming months.

I get what broader point you were trying to make but I don't think this is the example.

The point isn't the outrage, it's the racism. Aggregating it now preserves the record of how parts of society reacted to a moment in time. Plus, there will be people reading that story today who — for a variety of reasons — might not have clocked the outrage as racist.
