Wow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan.

Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a “massacre.”

I reshared @siembranc.bsky.social's excellent toolkit "How We Dealt with Border Patrol" in NC just this morning in my newsletter before this horrible killing. It's worth people reading and then acting on: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
Toolkit: how we dealt with Border Patrol
In November 2025, Border Patrol announced it would be coming to Charlotte, North Carolina. We only had a few days’ notice. Just like in Chicago and Los Angeles, they weren’t coming to “keep the peace....

Yesterday: Sec Rubio claimed the US isn’t “withdrawing from the world”.

Also yesterday: China pledges $500m to WHO, helping to cover the budget gap from US withdrawal.

As the US cedes diplomatic goodwill built over decades of humanitarian work abroad, other countries will quickly fill the void.

The next 100 days will be tougher than the last, they expect you to burn out and accept it, they expect you to stop protesting and sit quietly at home. They expect you to submit yourself to fascism and just let it happen. You are better than that. Make them expect your diligence and consistency. #3E

A National Weather Service office in Kentucky was scrambling to cover the overnight forecast on Friday as severe storms moved through much of the eastern U.S.

The office is one of several left without an overnight forecaster as a result of cuts ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency.

Let’s clear something up: SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — the LARGEST federal program to fight hunger in the country!

It blows my mind that the party that touts its “Christian values” is the same party that is SET on taking food from the hungry.

The Episcopal Church’s migration service is refusing a directive from the federal government to help resettle white South Africans granted refugee status, citing the church’s longstanding “commitment to racial justice and reconciliation.”
Episcopal Church says it won’t help resettle white South Africans granted refugee status in U.S.
"It has been painful to watch one group of refugees, selected in a highly unusual manner, receive preferential treatment over many others," Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe said.

It's hard to adequately describe how scary it is to watch mainstream political journalists barely push back against a sitting U.S. president accepting a $400M plane from a foreign government that would literally be designated as an emergency command-and-control center during a nuclear war.

What happened before Mayor Baraka’s arrest needs daylight.

Did masked ICE agents let him in just so they could arrest and perp walk him to send a message of fear. Because that’s what it looks like.

We’re sliding into fascism—and fast. And if we don’t stop it now, we may not get another chance.

When you watch these heartbreaking videos showing the cruel and thuggish behavior of ICE agents, remember that these people are not being FORCED to commit these acts — they do so willingly. They could quit their jobs at any time. They could say “enough!”

ICE agents CHOOSE to do what they do.
