First week at my new remote job. Cons: every meeting is a camera on meeting. Meh. Pros: they sent me a high-end work laptop, two large external monitors, an external keyboard, and a Bluetooth mouse. My onboarding schedule has six access and high level sections, and 20 functional area reviews.

Yesterday I got an email with my offer letter. I printed it, signed it, scanned it, attached it to a reply email, and sent it back. They are going to send me a business laptop. In a little more than two weeks I'll be back at work, with a three month gap between the new job and the last job. 1/2

On Friday I had a Teams Video interview for a Cobol programming position with a major financial corporation in Cincinnati. The interviewers were the hiring manager and 4 of his programmers/analysts. I was replacing someone who had moved to another department. Did you ever have a job interview 1/4

This morning I had a Zoom job interview with the Oregon Health authority for a remote programming position. The interview went well and they said they'd schedule me for another interview.

This afternoon I had an HR screening interview with a major Las Vegas entertaiment corporation for a remote programming position. The HR recruiter was very upbeat, and the job sounded good, with a decent salary and great benefits. He going to talk to the team about getting 1/2

This afternoon I got an email from an HR rep from a major gaming and hospitality company in Las Vegas. I had applied for a remote promoting job with the company. The rep is going to set up an HR screening interview for me in the next few business days. This day of job hunting ended on a good note.

My fiancée made the difficult decision of putting her cat Bella to sleep today. She's had the cat for 14 years, since she was a kitten not even a year old. I've known this pretty girl for two years, since my fiancée and I started living together. She's free of pain now.

I have a tech interview scheduled with the primary contractor for a major pharmaceutical company nearby. This is on Thursday. So I've ordered a ring light that clips onto my laptop for the Zoom interview. I need to figure out how to blur my background, shouldn't be that hard. Wish me luck.

This morning I was on the phone with the local HR representative from an international company that's about a 20 minute drive from here. She's setting me up for two different days of interviewing. It sounds intense. 1/2

The current president has said he's going to lower prices, and that's true. I'm looking at the prices of the stocks in my retirement fund, and they're all lower.

My fiancée recommended that I talk to her ex-husband's widow about her contacts at a company I'm applying at. She asked for my resume, and I sent it to her. She's going to forward it to the director at that company in charge of the area I applied to. I'm hoping.

Today would have been my daughter's 41st birthday. She died 5 years ago, trying to save her two younger sons from a house fire. I miss her every day.
