Pollster/wonk/data journalist. Feminist who thinks what we tell boys about being men explains a lot. Still an Atlanticist. Big Dan Burn is an excellent left back in the right system.

Joffrey Baratheon‘s style icon is the Northern Irish lad from bake off
danlehner.bsky.social
Jack Gleeson, the actor who played Joffrey, kinda now looks like if Jeff Foxworthy was a Fremen

“We’ve tried not calling it racist and people still don’t think it’s racist. We’re all out of ideas.”

He’ll stick at Forest until J7 ages out in 2-3 years, then come home as clear first choice in his prime. You heard it here first #cope

Why would they believe that? Their problem has been that the consensus that racism is bad created a social cost for them. They hd to be careful whom they spoke to; a reputation for racism could be ruinous. Even in my lifetime that wasn’t always true. People worked hard to build that consensus. /3

So so much want this to be true, but pretty sure that transfer predates the existence of Wikipedia. Now need an entire podcast on how that extremely specific factoid came to be

There is a serious failure in UK govt, politics & media to take sufficiently seriously what Musk said & meant with "fight back or die"

= Violence (interethnic civil war) is inevitable so pre-emptive violence - vs migrants, minorities & political opponents - is necessary to avoid existential erasure
sundersays.bsky.social
The common sense meaning should make this Elon Musk's "rivers of blood" moment

Though I think he goes further than Enoch Powell in a couple of important ways
paleofuture.bsky.social
Elon Musk spoke by video to Tommy Robinson's anti-immigrant rally in the UK today.

"You're in a fundamental situation here where, whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you," said Musk. "You either fight back or you die."

Again, I really do have concerns about exactly how Justin Webb is acquiring his knowledge of US politics or what prompted him to make this exact point.
robertsaunders.bsky.social
Justin Webb just referred on Today to "platforms like Bluesky, where you can see the celebration of the killing" of Charlie Kirk.

What I'm seeing on here is overwhelming condemnation; despair at the violence of US politics; alarm at where this might go; & calls for equal horror at other shootings.

I increasingly wonder if this is down to so many government people still using X and mistaking that for an actual measure of public opinion.

Poll after poll after poll has shown that British voters don't like small boats but they hate street violence and open racism much more.

Sir Robert Worcester, legendary pollster and founder of MORI (now Ipsos UK) has died at 91. He taught so many people so much about the value and importance of opinion polls in modern democracies - everyone in our industry and politics owes him a debt of gratitude.

yeah this does not bode well either for this season or for next summer (or indeed January). Need to start preparing dickhead-mitigation plans for each transfer window in the same way you do for players going off to afcon
harrydcarr.bsky.social
What a strange comparison. “£3bn, or half the suspiciously large GDP of a small island with roughly the population of Lowestoft” www.nytimes.com/athletic/651...

(Btw thank you for braving x to bring us transfer bollocks - appreciate it!)

For us, I can see Wistamade getting 30+ goals between them and champions league again. Question will be if some of our big players follow Isak’s precedent and we’re constantly having to replace our top talent, which eventually only ends one way
harrydcarr.bsky.social
The dream: they win the champions league and he only plays the last few mins in a monumental huff
harrydcarr.bsky.social
You get the impression he needs to be treated like a precious perfect butterfly or he goes into lazy/strop mode. First time he has a run of poor form (which he definitely had for us)/doesn’t start a big game will be 🍿🍿🍿
harrydcarr.bsky.social
His stats have been boosted by how good we’ve been (which admittedly will raise again at Liverpool), and by him being the main goal scoring man and playing every possible minute (which he will absolutely not get with Ekitike and while Salah is about, their relationship gonna be mardy af)
harrydcarr.bsky.social
Yeah the thing I’m clinging to is the one season Wilson was fit for any length of time while Isak was here (admittedly Isak’s first in English football), he comprehensively outscored him (overall and per 90)
harrydcarr.bsky.social
We’ve ended up with the worst of both worlds. Playing billy big bollocks only to cave and accept a deal that was always there is objectively embarrassing. Gotta hope the owners feel some of that and buck their fucking ideas up
harrydcarr.bsky.social
There’s motivated reasoning on his part but he’s right. I’m of the Alex Ferguson/Ronaldo school of thought (not for sale to those fuckers, warn him explicitly he’ll rot in the stands if he remains in a huff, he can go next year for a record fee), but if you’re going to sell him, do it in July.

I think an underestimated factor behind the rise of open, old fashioned racism on the right is the legitimation of blood and soil nationalism by well-meaning but myopic parts of the identity politics left

Of all the strange interactions I've ever had on social media

A British person telling me that chicken ticket masala is British cuisine is really really high up there.

What are ‘solidarity payments’ here?
harrydcarr.bsky.social
Our talent ID is clearly excellent. We have our lord and saviour Eddie Howe. The club’s decision making outside of that has been truly terrible. We don’t demand a senior management team that wins, we demand a senior management team that tries (simply existing would be a start)
