That's so frustrating! I've actually never had problems with this GP before this week, I usually just do the online form and get an appointment a day or so later depending on if it's urgent. I suspect they're overwhelmed by the new triage thing and are sending patients elsewhere as a solution?
hatporter.bsky.social
Whatever this new GP triage system is, it's really not working because they told me to go to A&E for a really really minor issue and then the person wouldn't speak on the phone because she wasn't medical, so I guess the options are getting called a time waster in A&E or "hope for the best" ??

Sharing my banner here as I haven't been well enough to go to any of the pride events near me this year (and they're not very accessible to me) but I will still share the rage, pride, joy and grief from afar
Placard reads: PROTECT TRANS AND DISABLED LIVES against a trans pride flag with the colours of the disability pride flag overlayed in a diagonal across the placard

It shouldn't need to be said, but your value as a fellow human being is not whether you are financially productive or whether you avoid claiming benefits. Image created by @ritb.bsky.social
I am a valuable member of society, in sickness and in health, regardless of whether I am able to work or volunteer. My value as a human being is not dependent on my financial contribution to the economy.

www.jaacap.org/article/S089... Some Clinicians fret over how to spot the difference between autistic stimming (joyful, self-regulating) and the terrifying dread of OCD. Unable to envisage *asking autistic people*, they are hopeful that there will be a scientific test to tell them the answer.
Sigh.

In this issue, Pereira et al. conduct a systematic review, exploring the complex, often confusing, relationship between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), two comm...

Ooh yeah good idea! I had wondered about using the little pottery bits for a mosaic but I'd be nervous to use them I think!

People always ask what I do with it. I just carefully sort it into colours and keep it in many different jars (my lifelong favourite activity of ✨sorting things into piles✨)
Jars of sea glass sorted into colours, lots of white/seafoam, green. Some brown. Much less red and blue.
hatporter.bsky.social
Who wants to see some of my summer sea glass hauls? (I'm showing you anyway). The two photos of the sorted sea glass are each from just one day's collection at Charmouth (two separate days) 🌀💎
White skinned hand holding a jar of sea glass in blues, pink, red and bright green Lots of pots and dishes of sea glass sorted into colour. There is lots of green and white but only a few blue pieces A mix of sea glass in a sieve, mostly green, white and brown Sea glass sorted into colours, there is loads of white and green, less brown and just a few bits of blue, yellow and red. Also some bits of coloured pottery and a tiny fossil

Tonight, Trump and RFK Jr will announce that folinic acid (leucovorin) is a 'treatment' or 'cure' for autism.

Dr Oz was made Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Guess whose business bought in a load of folinic acid to sell?

Is it Dr Oz's?! Yes, of course it is.

I hope the soft, delicate fabric shows the precarity of disability protest and softness of the care we give one another in the space where a possible answer to this question lies in the ways we build care and community. (Doing our best to) protect ourselves and each other as an act of resistance.
hatporter.bsky.social
Through trying to fight for disability justice and being harmed in the process, I kept finding myself asking the same question over and over: how do we protect ourselves from the very institutions, from healthcare to welfare, which are meant to protect us as yet perpetuate the greatest harm?

I was giving evidence on behalf of @stopoxevision due to last minute changes the hearings will probably (yet to be confirmed) be heard in October.

Amongst the horrors of this year, this artwork came from my experience of giving evidence to the Lampard Inquiry, a public inquiry investigating the deaths of over 2000 people under Essex mental health services – each of whom was catastrophically failed by the very institution meant to protect them.
Photo of a sheer fabric artwork hanging from a washing line with a white wall and blue sky in the background.

The artwork is a sheer white fabric with text stitched in red and green fabric. The text reads: HOW DO WE PROTECT OURSELVES FROM THOSE WHO FAIL TO PROTECT US. As the fabric is sheer, the text can be read clearly in the shadow of the artwork. In this image the words PROTECT US are very clear in the shadow..
