It’s a real false economy, as the impact on the NHS - as well as elsewhere - will outweigh any cost saving from severely limiting who can have the vaccine. So, it is probably more about govt just choosing to ignore Covid, as taking it seriously would indicate this is still a major threat to health.

DWP in bed with mental health charities makes me sick. I saw a 10 week singing for wellbeing courses recently and wanted to go. Until I read the blurb stating someone would be there to help with work searching...

We do know of other people paying for the jab, but it is a substantial cost and priced to disincentivise people from having it. It’s shocking that there is a simple and easy way to protect people from a debilitating virus and the govt are like “nah, we won’t do that”

It wouldn’t surprise us if they got paid per rejection.

Denying both those with serious mental health conditions and their carers does ensure that this will have a devastating impact for many people. You can’t help but think that it’s a deliberate strategy.

Yes, you’re right, though some pharmacists are being much stricter on this and making it almost impossible for people with serious health conditions, many of who are eligible.

We do know a few people who have turned up for their vaccination and been turned away. Very few will receive it, and then there’ll be surprise when people start getting seriously ill. You can pay for the vaccine though, but it isn’t cheap.

Just @mind.org.uk having a bake-off with the DWP, who regularly impoverish people with mental health issues and drive them to suicide. Cake or death? Or let them eat cake? 🤔

Semi-regular update on how many jobs there actually are for disabled people in the UK, according to DWP Find a Job

All Jobs: 110,774
Fully Remote: 673
Of which are disability confident: 92
Of which are part-time: 5

BUT 3 of them are in care homes, so TWO WHOLE JOBS

Taking away eligibility for the Covid vaccine from almost anyone under 75, including carers, healthcare workers and most clinically vulnerable people, is a national scandal.

Work should not be a healthcare outcome.

It should be the last step of "recovery" for those who are able to get to that stage and for whom it is a positive step.

Employment and healthcare should not be conflated, ever... And if someone can't work, they can't work.

This is truly chilling, and goes waaaay beyond immigration. When you have political parties saying that you don't need lawyers, courts, judges etc because the government cannot make mistakes absolutely everyone should be worrying. What starts with one group tends to expand to others.
Key to their proposals is a plan to abolish the Immigration Tribunal, which hears challenges to failed asylum claims, handing the appeals process instead to a team of officials within the Home Office.

The Tories also plan to abolish taxpayer-funded legal aid in immigration cases, with a document on the proposals arguing there "will be no need for lawyers" because claims would be "fairly assessed against the criteria".

I assume if implemented these new powers to further restrict protests in the UK will also be used against those outside hotels...right? Right?

It's just another erosion of the right to protest, and we keep seeing that right chipped away.

And he’s back!!

Sunday isn’t Sunday without Stewart Lee. We were so thrilled at @thenerve.news that Stewart came with us.

His satirical columns for the Observer were some of our most-read content: funny, surreal, angry true. Essential weekend reading.

"40% of deaths of learning disabled people were deemed to be avoidable."

This has been known for decades, while services are slashed.

Yet the priority for UK politicians is handing over £ millions to private tech firms.

This is eugenics.

This is what disabled people are trying to warn you about.

People with learning disabilities had DNRs placed in their files, without consent, during the early days of COVID.

Now this man was left to die:

Wes Streeting setting up a "review" of "over-diagnosis" of mental illnesses.

Chosen someone known to be anti-dx (and responsible for the dangerous SIM Model) to lead this. No bias there at all then...

This is just another ploy to minimise mental illnesses & remove support.
