I am old enough to remember hundreds of county players being forced to play with a Kookaburra ball for weeks on end, while the Test side was in action at the same time and not using one.
Maybe it was a fever dream? Must have been.
Imagine Surrey scoring 800+ and a bowler going for 200+?
Bad dream!

New blogging: myself and Mrs C were in Bath a couple of weeks ago so we paid a visit to the Rec for some reminiscing on the ground.

Evening all. Now for something, slightly, different: a review of the very interesting cricket book The Faintest of Tickles. Well worth a read:

Good news for the England men. If they get whumped again tomorrow the first tee of the golf course next to the Rose Bowl is about a ten minute walk from the dressing room. 👍

Memories in sport too often focus on the victory and defeat. An entire contest and one’s recollection of said contest summed up in the most binary of judgements. Sometimes a moment or vignette of b…

A Saturday afternoon in Ikea, only made bearable by introducing my 15-year-old to Ikea cricket. You score a run every time you locate an item you want, but lose a wicket every time you see a family arguing. A respectable 18 for 3 today.

The T in T20 now stands for Tardy.
The opening game of CPL took 3 hours for 32.1 overs of cricket with no weather interruptions.

Test matches move faster than that.

If using the Kookaburra in county cricket is important Ashes practice for bowlers why are England picking a Test squad of 16 and allowing an excess number of pace bowlers to sit around at the Test in the interest of team spirit? Unwatchable & an arrogant destruction of England’s professional circuit
