GOOD NEWS! Researchers have revealed a synthetic glycosystem -a sugar-coated polymer nanoparticle- that can BLOCK SARS-CoV-2 from infecting human cells, REDUCING infection rates by NEARLY 99%. Acting as a decoy, the molecule BINDS to the spike protein, PREVENTING it from attaching to real cells.

I got into SFF by reading Star Wars EU books (Stackpole X-Wing series, anyone?) and Dragonlance. As I got more into genre, I went back and read some Asimov, Heinlein, and Clarke. I can't imagine 13 yr old me starting with like Stranger in a Strange Land or some shit
It's far more important for a reader (and especially writers) to discover their own personal canons than the ones handed down from above. Anybody wanting to get into any genre should start by reading the books that sound cool to them. One weird trick, I know.
Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein should be required for anyone getting into sci-fi
