The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe.

Will we listen to his words today?

Last year Microsoft made $88 billion (that's billion, with a B) in profit on $245B in revenue. That's a 36% profit margin. The idea that they have to put 9000 people out of work in order to improve profitability is absolutely ghoulish. This is not a struggling company, they're swimming in profit.

A fun way to make the median worker salary go down is to lay off a bunch of longtime employees who were senior enough to cost some money but not senior enough to be part of the protected executive class!
NEW: EA CEO Andrew Wilson was paid $30.5 million in cash and stock this past year, up about $5m from a year ago

Since the U.S. requires companies to compare CEO pay to employee pay, I made an EA pay chart

To make it work, I had to make it VERY TALL

Take a look: www.gamefile.news/p/ea-ceo-and...
EA CEO’s pay is up, as EA worker median income drops
Behold, the tallest chart in Game File history. PLUS: EA execs were paid (a little) more for boosting generative AI

Honestly, after what EA's done to Bioware and specifically and spitefully to Dragon Age and it's devs (never even mind their glee to let Andromeda, the ME I like most, die on the vine unfinished)

like, there's not a cold chance in hell of me buying Mass Effect 5. #EASucks #dragonage #masseffect

You weren’t “high-functioning.”
You were masking.

You weren’t “coping.”
You were dissociating.

You weren’t “fine.”
You were in burnout.

They praised your performance.
But never saw the cost.

You deserved care.
Not applause.

I also think we need to reframe our understanding of what "AAA Publishing" is. These aren't publishers anymore. They are holding companies.
