Timmermans en Kaag (n.a.v. #buitenhof).

COP presidencies should focus less on climate policy, more on global politics
Unless host nations run climate summits in a way that accounts for the new geopolitical reality, what's agreed at COPs won't drive meaningful action

This piece on the Colorado oil lease auction reminds me of a word I heard recently from the CEO of Exxon while discussing new oil opportunities....

"uninvestable"

Lot of that going around.

There is plenty of oil left in the world but not a lot left that makes money at $60/barrel.
Republicans forced the Bureau of Land Management to put over 20,000 acres of public land in Colorado up for auction at the discount price of $10/acre with reduced royalty rates for oil and gas drilling.

No one bid for it because demand for oil is crashing though. 🔌💡

Bureau of Land Management oil and gas auction gets zero bids in Colorado
The Trump administration wants to expand drilling on public lands, but oil and gas developers expressed zero interest in Thursday’s sale.

Rising energy bills in the u.s. result from increased gas prices, high demand from data centres and cancelled renewables projects. Yet Trump administration would rather take the country to war than solving problems of its citizens.

Massadeportaties in nazi-Duitsland begonnen in 1941.
