There are so many songs that sound a lot like other songs, and I understand that music is kinda like that but some of them seem so obvious.

I got really into Jane Goodall in late elementary school, and read an early reader biography about her, and while I can't recite a litany of facts, knowing about her as a kid was inspirational and important to me.

I'm going to sound like the biggest hater & loser in the world and I know we must do our political performance but the "look at my war ravaged Portland" photos especially from politicians are getting a little 😬 when we have crisis levels of people without housing including unknown numbers of kids

The near daily barrage of deadly mass shootings in America feels like low level warfare against normal citizens who just want to live in peace. And because people keep electing Republicans who won’t do anything about it there’s no solution in sight.

it’s Sunday on bluesky so I am urging everyone to take care of themselves. Take a walk, have a second cup of coffee or tea, read a book, spend some time looking at small poems

Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!
"How Do You Avoid Hitting People With Your Car" pocket guide. Instructs readers to Watch the Road and Slow Down. Further text humorously insists that watching the road and slowing down are indeed important.

Part of the issue with people saying you can't cycle in winter/rain/wind/whatever is because they haven't tried and if they did they'd find out it's almost always fine but another is that we've normalised driving in unsafe conditions and, crucially, being expected to drive in unsafe conditions.

I understand AI isn't going to disappear and I work with information professionals so it would be foolish for my colleagues to ignore it, but when my colleagues casually use it for a creative endeavor (especially producing images) I feel ill.

Truly outrageous. Erasing the evidence of mounting suffering won't make it go away.

The effect of car dependency: in 1940, Basil Rathbone was photographed wearing an overcoat outside his home. As more men relied on cars, overcoats became shorter to accommodate drivers. Today, the right is marketed as an "overcoat," even if it would've been considered more sport coat length in 1940.
Basil Rathbone standing on some brick steps outside of his home. He's wearing an overcoat that comes down below his knee. He's also wearing what appears to be gray trousers and black dress shoes. A Suitsupply model wears a navy "overcoat," which barely reaches mid-thigh. He pairs it with a navy turtleneck, gray pleated trousers, and black shoes.
