Whilst the PM is totally right to recognise the importance of increasing our defence capabilities - without a clear spending plan - the SDR risks becoming a damp squib.

This is exactly why we @libdems.org.uk are calling for cross-party talks to agree a path forward to 3% of GDP.

84 MPs & Peers have written to the Foreign Secretary today, highlighting attacks on the Global Sumud Flotilla as it sails to deliver aid to Gaza.

We urge the Government to condemn these attacks and make it clear to Israeli counterparts that no harm must come to these humanitarians.

A formal letter on UK Parliament letterhead addressed to The Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, dated 25 September 2025. It is signed by Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, Labour MP for Clapham & Brixton Hill. The letter expresses concern for the safety of British citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla aid mission to Gaza, referencing past Israeli interceptions of aid missions, recent drone attacks on vessels, and social media posts suggesting links to Hamas. It urges the Foreign Secretary to ensure that the UK strongly communicates to Israel that no harm must come to the flotilla or the British citizens onboard.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly.

This is a very serious development. The UK must stand together with our NATO allies and provide any support they require.

We must lead from the front in choking off Russia’s revenues from oil and gas - and press all European partners to do the same.

Last night, as Donald Trump arrived in the U.K., the IDF pressed forward with its new ground offensive on Gaza City.

Amidst the pomp and pageantry of the state visit, the abject suffering of Palestinian civilians cannot be forgotten. Keir Starmer must implore Trump to call for a ceasefire.

Russia violating Polish airspace is a dangerous escalation.
We must back our European allies in the face of Putin's warmongering.
The UK should further hit the Kremlin's war fund and reduce the oil cap cut to stop Russian aggression spreading across Europe.

They showed me how they've adapted their operation to curb the problem by:

- Securing additional parking spaces.
- Securing a new parking sign.
- Installing a camera to monitor when cars are parked incorrectly.
- Increasing staffing so parking issues can quickly be resolved.

They create word-free books for adults and children with learning difficulties and do incredible work to support SEND children to understand different aspects of life through these books. 📚
