She/Her.
Easy answer is no, the complicated answer is that the Church never recognized their divorce to begin with, the more complicated answer is that Katie is Jewish and never converted which means they were almost certainly not married in the Church and thus never married under God.

When people say "fuck the South", they hardly ever mean barbecue or SEC football or Southern hospitality. They mean this evil that permeates so much of what could otherwise be so much better.

The South must even today be reconstructed by policy or progress (as has already happened in much of the South), & either of these will mean giving up something fundamental to the South-that-was, just as air conditioning did.

Agreed. It’s a lot about how looking back would turn you into a pillar of salt.

It’s hard to accept that your home, a place you love, has a fraught history that is hurting people to this day. It’s hard and it’s painful. But some of us are still in the trenches here. It’s unhelpful to pretend that Coffee county is a hub of leftist activity just waiting to burst forth.

I’m not saying the only way to have good politics is to hate the South. I love the South. I love my home. But enabling things that have only ever hurt us is not the way forward for the South or for our country. It has to stop.

not accusing Elizabeth of this, but there’s a faux-savvy take that floats around lefty circles sometimes that if you controlled for voter suppression, the south looks like the north. not remotely true.

Yes, I have learned since posting that she is a southerner. I offer a sincere apology to her on that front but I stand by the rest of my posts. Thank you for setting the record straight!

Not to be whatever about it but I do think there’s a Southern Archetype of person that grew up around people who hate liberals for Republican reasons that have a hard time shaking that as a left wing adult. I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here but it’s not uncommon.

The southern strategy was an atom bomb in the development of southern history and so was the death of Abraham Lincoln.

I stand corrected on that point, my apologies to her. I stand by all the rest, however.
