They are on TV during sports and news while No isn't. No is supposedly doing pre-roll ads on YouTube, although I pay for it to be ad free so I never see them (or any other ads).

I would be fine with human daycare because at least those kids pay my pension. But pets are literally luxury items that don't contribute to overall society.

"Nobody wants to share their doctor with the poor" is a very good summation of American class politics, with almost any word substituting for "doctor." "Transit," "dentist," "childcare provider," "teacher," etc.

Some of that administrative burden is self imposed though. The Kaiser network is the same at all levels from Medi-Cal, ACA, Medicare Advantage, and Cadillac health plans, the only things that differ are co-pays and in some instances the formulary.

People want to maximize for the best health care. On Bogleheads there is a lot of talk of paying for Medigap to retain access to exceptional providers like Mayo Clinic, Cedars Sinai, etc. No one wants to settle for the graduate from Ross U or LECOM even though they are good enough.

That's the issue the GOP doesn't want, the common pool. A Kaiser Permanente for all would mean interminable waits for mental health care and mandatory step therapy to find the most cost-effective way to treat a condition, rather than just jumping to the highest step and making insurance pay.

part of the problem is that the GOP basically doesn't want to touch employer-based healthcare despite the fact that getting everyone into a common pool and providing universal basic care is probably more affordable

Either you can be a religious official or a licensed therapist. You shouldn't be able to mix the two roles, although there is precedence with banker regulation where one moment they are a fiduciary advisor and another moment they are just a salesman.

I agree with you about the fairness doctrine, but the media consolidation really happened later in Rush's career. In the mid 90's when Jacor became Clear Channel and CBS gobbled up a lot of stations, Rush was already established. It's not like they would have run local programming.

Televangelists were on the air back then all the time. Rush synergized a willingness to be provocative with having fun, but he was also able to poke fun at himself. The secular issue though was that AM was dying and something needed to be put on the air and Rush fulfilled that role.
