Currently reading Blackheart Man by @nalohop.bsky.social and I’m hooked this far. I’m slowly digesting this story cause I’m writing my observations like crazy! So many small things capturing me. I was hooked at the reference to Carenage Town! Love it!

Love it when my fav authors write and get recognition for their short stories! 👏👏👏👏
I got a Pushcart nom and am thrilled (!), but I wanna give a shout to Cleyvis Natera, who encouraged me. I don’t write many short stories, but had this one in my hard drive. Cleyvis said “Just send it” and sucked her teeth. 😂 Thank you to writers like Cleyvis, who want friends to have wins too.

An interview in The Bookseller about DEATH OF THE AUTHOR

"Part SFF, part literary fiction, part family saga and part diasporic tale, the novel defies labelling."

Also, I explain the title a bit more (outside of the Barthes reference).

Read it here: www.thebookseller.com/author-inter...
Nnedi Okorafor | 'When something is really complicated, people want to simplify it so that it’s easier to digest and so that they can kind of control the narrative'
Death of the Author explores how life and art intersect in a genre-defying tale.
