People want practical solutions to points of friction in their own lives, and they need to understand where you're coming from in a straightforward talking point.

Instead of using a bunch of academic language from book-socialism, maybe try something like-

"Hey, isn't it pretty fkd that in a country where we're supposed to have Medicare that you have to check your bank account before knowing if you can afford to take yourself or your kid to a GP?"
