Bath Kids Lit Fest managed to get early copies of our new book, ‘Adventuremice: Mousehole to the Centre of the Earth’!

I’ve only had my one author copy and it’s SO NICE to see a bunch of them all together ☺️

It’s #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek in Scotland this week and in the rest of the UK next week. As a dyslexic reader myself I wanted to use #KidsBooksFriday this week to celebrate brilliant, accessible and super-readable texts of all kinds.
#UKKidLit #KidLitUK #KidLit
Book cover for Reek by Alastair Chisholm, illustrated by George Caltsoudas showing a young person with a helmet and rocket books swinging through a futuristic Edinburgh via a rope. Book cover for Wonderfully Wired Brains by Louise Gooding showing a young person with short hair and glasses wearing a green hoodie. Around their head are a myriad of different things from animals to basketballs, pencils, paint brushes and games controllers. Book cover for Ink Girls by Marieke Nijkamp and Sylvia Bi showing three girls with papers in their hand as if passing our leaflets, hovering over a medieval European style city. Book cover for The Horse Dreamer by Holly Surplice showing a sketch style drawing of a girl riding a galloping horse.

Graphic novels are great too, from Max and Chaffy by Jamie Smart for younger readers up to Another Kind by Cait May/Trevor Beam and No Place for Monsters by Kory Merrit for upper KS2.

Barrington Stoke books are fantastic but I also think the idea of using a verse novel like Wider Than the Sea is really clever. I would pick The Final/First Year by Matt Goodfellow and Digging for Victory by Cathy Faulkner.

Decided to do a #followFriday on here to encourage people to follow and stick around. This week @suchmo83.bsky.social - sure that most primary teachers already following him but he really is the best person at distilling reading research into classroom action so useful for secondary too!

I just finished a proof of this brilliant book! Witty, poignant and thought-provoking. (Also made me realise I am much shallower than the main character Zubair and would be going back in time to ride dinosaurs rather than help my family)
