This is a really good thread on how the right uses our worry that we sound nuts to just rampage while we get up to speed.
The key to the Criminal Interview is that the would-be predator operates unconstrained by norms — all options are on the table for them.

The predator is testing how far they can push their potential victim before getting pushback.

The predator is trying to figure out "Can I get away with this?" 4/

Probably half of America would think you were an unhinged lunatic if you just factually explained to them what’s happened in the last seven days.
And probably more than half of America has no idea.

Seen on my news and academic feeds today:

"This is highly illegal!"
"Where are the courts?"
"Someone needs to arrest him/them!"
"The military needs to oust them!"
"WHERE ARE THE DEMS?"

This is the denial stage of grief. None of the above institutions are coming to save us.

We are all we've got.

All Five Eyes partners need to presume that ALL US government IT systems are now insecure.

Similarly the EU need to treat any data interchange agreements with the US as null and void.

This includes cloud hosting on Azure, AWS and Google (not that anyone uses Google Cloud ;)
Random computers being plugged into federal networks is obviously terrifying in terms of what data they're deliberately accessing, but it's also terrifying because it implies controls are being disabled - unmanaged systems should never have access to this data. Who else has access to those systems?

Trump and Musk are doing both. Entirely lawless and unconstitutional.

1. House Dems bring articles of impeachment*

2. Senate Dems play constitutional hardball and obstruct everything

3. State AGs litigate (and prosecute) everything they can

4. Citizens march en mass
