As the year ends, let me thank public school teachers who, under difficult circumstances, are doing their best to educate our kids.

If this country is to flourish, we need the best education system in the world. Let’s fight for a nation where teachers are well-paid & respected.

In case you didn't know...

Both male & female Reindeer grow antlers, but males lose them in late Autumn. All Santa’s reindeer are therefore female, which means Rudolph is persistently misgendered.

There we go. Confirmed.

The Christmas subplot from the novel of Hunt for Red October does turn up (albeit briefly) in the film.

Therefore Hunt for Red October is a Christmas film.

One "ho ho ho", Vasily, and one "ho ho ho" only...
Yes it's mentioned at the start and end of the film

Fundamentally, my ideal foreign policy vision is Brits & Americans & Frenchmen & Germans & Poles & Ukrainians and Japanese & Taiwanese & South Koreans & Australians and whoever else wants to join, all standing together, under arms if necessary, to declare that all people are and ought to be free.

Google and AI search are now dedicated to stripmining the whole web for Information. The personality, creativity, and connection of personal websites are, to them, pointless.

But the old ways still work! A billion little fires still smolder out there. You just have to go find them yourself.

The worse Google gets, the more I find myself longing for a more primal internet experience: and the joy of clicking a link when you didn't know what awaited on the other side.
Google's obsession with killing off links betrays what made the internet great
The best version of the internet put links first, but Google no longer wants you to leave its own search pages.

The threats from unchecked AI are real — worker displacement, corporate surveillance, invasion of privacy, environmental destruction, unmanned warfare.

Today, a tiny number of billionaires are shaping the future of AI behind closed doors. That is unacceptable. That must change.

AOL Instant Messenger. I saved backups of my AIM chats with my friends from the late ’90s and early 2000s, when we were in middle school and high school. Reading them now is so cringey.

Obama is the lynchpin of neoliberal failure:

- no bankers went to jail for the financial crisis
- no punishment for Bush era crimes including torture
- no reigning in open market manipulation and illegal activity of tech disruptors like Uber
- refused to reform the filibuster
- drone wars expanded
obama ramped up the use of drone strikes (10x more than bush!) and deported a record number of immigrants. he helped maintain and expand the systems trump is now using to do his crimes
I miss the times when the worst thing a President did was wear a tan suit

Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

Below, are the accounts of Bartlomé de las Casas.

AOC: We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was. A man who believed that the civil rights act that granted black Americans the right to vote was a mistake… His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.
