I never thought I would feel like our rights and the Constitution would be in jeopardy but here we are. If you value your rights and your freedoms, you MUST speak up and fight for them.

Grateful that decent and caring people are doing what they can to help those in need but my gosh, how scary that it has reached this level.
I met an absolutely lovely academic who asked whether my department back home is affected by ICE -- a question dramatizing how little info is getting out.
For the record, the small example I chose:

The problem isn’t going away. The US is deteriorating by the day. When will someone with actual power step up to challenge these actions? We are in trouble.
Either Trump’s policies are supported by a sufficient percentage of Americans to be viable; or America’s constitutional order is so ossified that it no longer functions to safeguard the will of the people. (Neither option is good.)

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
