On that constant backlog grind.

If you're curious, here's a Google doc with every game I've finished or played to a significant extent. I'm down for essentially anything.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef (2022) 5/10

Can feel the studio being excited about the extra budget, but they don't do anything noteworthy except gratuitous superfluous details. Crashed 4(!) times in the 3.5 hour run-time. Unforgivable. Will try more Warhammer!
Without hyperbole. We're at the end of the year, and if i had a hyperbolic time chamber i could absolutely create a top 100 games about this year alone!

Here's the games i won't finish this year(but REALLY wanted to):

Another day. Another reminder for the people to abandon Twitter. And this reason might genuinely be the worst addition ever.

And i frankly don't care if some have found work arounds, this update makes it crystal clear artists aren't welcome anymore there.

Silksong would have been 3rd if i didn't play that on gog.

I'm terrified of when I'll have to create the tier list for everything i finished.

Thinking back on it, could be pretty interesting finally beating that old childhood mistake. Wonder if it even functions on current hardware anymore. After 2025 GOTY season probably.
Imagine a freshly 15 year old at the time just buying these on the basis of their cool covers, and also Spider man was a no brainer. OBVIOUSLY that could only be great!

Didn't play many current games at the time of my early adulthood, because money obviously. But of what i DID play. Duelyst was super good. But speaking of today? Thumper without a doubt!
Quote this with what you would have said your game of the year was at the end of 2016, and what you would say your favourite game of 2016 is now, if it differs

If i hadn't already bought it back when it came out, this would have immediately sold me. Absolutely one of my favorite trailers ever!

It would probably be kinda arbitrary ruling, but wow do i disagree with the roster. And think every game that has already been nominated for any of the previous categories at all, should be disqualified for players' voice to leave room for variety.

The Steam awards once again is here. And once again, games have been consistently outstanding this year.

Haven't quite finished Thrasher or Demonschool yet. I can still assure you they absolutely deserve these nominations.

A game from a decade ago BETTER not win anything again.

Absolute industry standard!
We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

Thumper is still solidly in my top 20. So am ecstatic to try it out.
4+ years after we started, THRASHER is now available on Steam for $9.99 with a 10% launch week discount ✨ Play however you like on PC, SteamVR, and Steam Deck!!

I found a football pitch in Baby Steps.

I then decided to make an entire video about how it's the best sports game I've played in years. No, seriously!

Hope you enjoy it. Jokey framing aside (or not) I really like how this one came out. If you like it, sharing really helps me out. Cheers!

You're JOKING this was approved. The move of large corporations, particularly Nintendo, patenting obvious gameplay ideas that just happen to be executed via software is one of the greatest threats to game development and creativity. How is the USPTO approving these. (Claim breakdown below)

BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.

Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.

This is their story: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
Why ‘Silksong’ Took Seven Years to Make
The highly anticipated indie game has been in production for so long that it’s become an internet meme

Hell is Us
Demonschool
Lego Voyagers
Henry Halfhead
Troublemaker 2
Silent Hill F

And now Silksong is also coming in September. That's only the games I'll pretty confidently get. There's high profile stuff i didn't mention. I'm frankly worried i won't financially recover.

A new era for the series begins. With a new hero and a story about white and black, light and shadow. The Yakuza's last hero makes his debut!

And I somehow spend 7 hours talking about it, link in next post, spread it around!

You know what now gives me a bizarre sense of satisfaction? Being able to say I've claimed victory over a Final Fantasy game. Doubt it'll be my last,(I am actually curious about XIII 2) but it just feels in a way, comforting crossing that off my list.

Yeah to no ones surprise Summer Game Fest was very mediocre. A few great reveals but not nearly enough to bridge the massive gaps of whatever. One game i found bland and one i outright hate both got sequels here, baffling. I guess someone liked Atomic Heart.

Just finished chapter 3 of Deltarune. I'm frankly elated about not having to wait another 3 years for a chapter because the end of this one have my mind *RACING*. Not what i expected but i see why it is like that.

But that'll have to wait for tomorrow, now is time for summer fest of Geoff.
