Money's a lil tight right now so making my services more widely available.

Audio editing/mixing/mastering for YouTube, podcasts, albums/EPs, etc.

If you want me to write for your website or consult on a piece you're writing yourself, I can do that too.

Lemme know if you're interested!

Haven't watched many films the past couple of weeks but god, what bangers. Lady Snowblood still rips. Can't stop thinking about OBAA. Wild how you legitimately couldn't make First Blood today without morons saying it's too woke

This has to be bait right. It just has to be. "If there's one thing activists hate it's Big Honkin' Bazongas. They impede activism"

I don't know if it's just that I'm so sleep deprived but this is one of the funniest images I have ever seen. Holy shit

Gamers’ brains are so cooked dude. The woman on the right is gorgeous and beautiful. Straight gamer men literally can’t find normal women attractive anymore.

Seeing a trailer - in the year 2025, for a film about a guy sitting in a chair - close with "experience it in 3D" is downright whiplash-inducing

I really am Getting on Bluesky... talking a little shit.. Getting off... Back to life...
writingongames.bsky.social
These days there is something genuinely quite nice seeing a ton of people posting really intensely at each other and genuinely having no clue what anyone is on about. A reminder that I actually have quite a nice Online/life balance

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

The Bluesky experience is seeing a vague tweet about a video game controversy and then spending 5 minutes sifting through actual human atrocities and forgetting why you signed on to begin with

You'd be surprised! I didn't have the patience to appreciate Getting Over It as anything other than a neat art experiment. Baby Steps definitely has its more punishing moments, but for the most part it's shockingly forgiving. It really wants you to get Nate up that mountain. It's a really fun Game!

Super interested in it but I just don't think I have the mental strength to persist through this type of game!
writingongames.bsky.social
Also as hilarious as its soundtrack is part of me really wishes the end credits were soundtracked by Peter and the Wolf
writingongames.bsky.social
I know I keep talking about it but I just finished Baby Steps. That ending got me choked up. Honestly my favourite game I've played in god knows how long. This feels like a real all-timer for me. Absolutely everything about it just feels so... perfect. I'm properly giddy about it all. ART, MAN

Working with editors early on made me realise that, truly, maybe the biggest problem with YouTube criticism is no one has to work with an editor
olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social
repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
blipstress.bsky.social
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

I mean sure they are both I guess but again, the distinction between "review" and "critique/analysis" doesn't actually mean much! No one has put it in a way that has convinced me, and frankly my point is that I think on YT it's focused on by pedants trying to sidestep/poke holes in actual criticism
lilgief.bsky.social
A review is what you make when talking about software and a critique/analysis is what you make when talking about a piece art.

Gamer types have a really hard time understanding that video games are both at the same time.
writingongames.bsky.social
Yuuuuuup. Multiple thumbnails didn't meaningfully alter anything in my experience, but titles have been having a real impact on performance. As you say, irritating but also like, it helps me freak out less about wording stuff the right way so I'm Going With That One
writingongames.bsky.social
(to be clear I get what OP is saying and I'm not aiming this at them, more just the commenters on videos who go to great lengths to tell me I'm supposedly doing something completely different to what I thought. Big Reddit "um actually" energy)
writingongames.bsky.social
Eh, I find the distinction (especially in the YouTube games space) to be almost entirely meaningless. For me, how it functions as art IS its value. The debate when I post a review and someone's like "THIS ISN'T A REVIEW IT'S CRITIQUE/ANALYSIS" just makes me do the biggest air wank gesture possible
lazerzz.bsky.social
I think people also forget you are usually providing a critique, not a traditional review. “Is the game worth your time and money?” isn’t the same as “how does the game function competently as art?” Sometimes they overlap, but I think commenters often get the two twisted far too often.
writingongames.bsky.social
It's something you just kind of have to block out when you do this long enough, but there's still a part of me that looks at this stuff - all the wild shit people have in their heads about who you supposedly are, for the sake of validating *video game opinions* - and finds it pretty disheartening!
writingongames.bsky.social
One thing it's hard to really communicate to those who don't do this is the extent to which people will just assume/make shit up about complete strangers, and others will just buy it if it lines up with their preconstructed view of a piece of art.

Don't be a weirdo! Be a thinking adult! Be human!
