The administration just issued a rule slashing foreign agricultural worker wages. And to justify it, in a public filing, Trump's Labor Department alleges that Trump's immigration enforcement has devastated the Ag workforce and caused a "risk of supply shock-induced food shortages."

I agree. But your focus on "easing the needless suffering" often blinds you to the possibility of NEW and WORSE suffering. We don't differ on value, but we differ on imagination. I lived in a dictatorship; you probably haven't.

you're clearly unaware of "the anti-establishment left"-- or whatever that word salad means. these are people largely concerned with politicians across parties who grift instead of easing the needless suffering everyday people. they're out there protesting fascism + organizing while you podcast.

If the anti-establishment left admits that Trump is the worst, logically, they'll have to admit that the past admins weren't as evil as they could've been, and that electoral politics did place constraints on politicians. And that wouldn't fit the narrative.

The thing about Iran-Contra and Watergate was that they WEREN’T flagrant: they had to be exposed.Trump literally does stuff five times worse than Watergate every day, and then tweets an openly neo-Nazi meme about it from the official White House account. It’s a difference in kind, not just degree.

I dunno, man. Iran-Contra and Watergate were pretty flagrant. I have a hard time believing they haven’t been heading down this road where the executive is all-powerful and power is the end, not the means, for a long, long time. Whether that alone qualifies as fascist I don’t know for sure.

Yeah, the top reason I think Taiwan is safe for now is how bad Russia performed in Ukraine even on land. With a fertility rate even lower than Russia's, I doubt China would try it anytime soon. And then the mass military purge (of the replacement after the last purge) doesn't help Xi either.

Haven't been following Chinese politics for so long due to the distress caused by Trump.
Just realized that 3 of the 7 members of the CCP Central Military Commission have been purged in the past year or so, with no replacement announced. The suckers had all been promoted by Xi himself. Like... what?
