Honestly this is one of the big reasons I love to read historical romance: many are quite well-researched, and I end up learning a ton while being entertained
the thing about reading gay historical fiction about nineteenth century politics is sometimes the author gets really, really into the suez canal

Found the outline and first few pages of a story I wrote the day before/day-of that I tested positive for Covid last summer when my brain was cooking, quite literally. I titled the draft The da Vinci Chode. On second reading, it’s…kinda good?

So many historical romance authors are pivoting to historical romance *fantasy* fiction in such a concerted way it feels very nakedly publisher-driven and it bums me out.

It’s understandable why, for a whole host of reasons, authors choose to self-publish anymore; however, it nettles me endlessly as someone trying to make a conscientious effort to not give Amazon money, that the primary platform for self-pub books is Kindle (and only Kindle!).
