After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

I spent this morning at our city's science fair with my kid, and until I saw the news, I was feeling so optimistic. Just so many cool, bright, hilarious kids who see the problems in the world (global warming, pollution, heat damage from hair styling) and tried to fix things.

You can't take historians to the movies, folks. Lol

(Have I told you about the time I found an anachronism in War and Peace?)
Absolutely lived up to the hype.

(But I'm obligated as a historian to say that when they showed Clarksdale, MS, three years into the Depression as having lots of new cars on the street, well ...)

I feel like I say this every morning, but seriously: "I'm blowing up the international order and starting WWIII because I didn't get a prize" can be the line. We don't have to put up with this. We can end this literally today.
