Lets raise the gas tax and use the rest to close the remaining gap
In panning the state budget yesterday, Gov McKee said he identified $15M that could be used to fund RIPTA without raising the gas tax.

RIPTA board meets today with $18M budget hole on the agenda.

So does gov object to using that available $15M now?

McKee calls RI state budget 'bad' and won't sign it. But why won't he veto it?
McKee registered his protest against the new budget with reporters, saying he won't sign it, but he won't veto it either.

RI Governor who last polled at 19% decides not to sign budget…but also not veto it…

Weird flex? Petty overload? Desperate attempt to stay relevant in his unpopularity?

Shocking NO votes:

Sen. Bissaillon— North End of Providence.
Sen. Urso—Pawtucket. Two crosstown routes 76 & 80 could be affected by cuts.
Sen. Murray—Woonsocket, where RIPTA Routes 54 & 87 are lifelines for many folks.
Sen. President Lawson—East Providence.

Transit riders deserved better. 😞🚌
