🧠 Does AI make biased medical choices?

A new study shows that models like GPT-4 show biases in medical decisions. For example, they recommended surgery more often when survival rates were emphasised (75%) compared to death rates (12%).

This is quite an assemblage of bones. I've never heard of anything like it from the Bronze Age. 🏺🧪

This animation shows two massive black holes in the OJ 287 galaxy. The smaller #blackhole orbits the larger one, which remains stationary in the animation and is surrounded by a disk of gas. When the smaller #blackhole crashes through the disk, it produces a flare brighter than 1 trillion stars.

This study shows that spike sequences carry information beyond what rates and latency to first spike do:

My reactions:

1) Cool to see this in humans.
2) Are people still surprised that spike times carry information beyond rates/first-spike latency?!?!?!

The website vs app split for Bluesky vs Threads captures the difference in user base and usage patterns beautifully.

Bluesky = knowledge sector workers who have it open all day in a tab next to their emails. “Wait what was I doing again?”

Threads = normies watching recipe videos on the commute.
