Makes me feel like the country really missed an opportunity by waiting 18 months to appoint Jack Smith and not putting Trump in jail to await trial.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

This is the first time I've used the report feature in bsky, was able to block and delete the conversation after pressing this pink button

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

After the largest peaceful pro-democracy demonstrations in American history, and a blue wave election where voters clearly and loudly said FIGHT ALL OF THIS CHAOS, it is malpractice and disqualifying for an elected Democrat to suggest caving to Trump.

I'm looking in your direction, Chuck Schumer.

There may disagreement and rejection on how policies and decisions are made that can be laid at the feet any past administration, but there is usually some consensus of common good that is achieved, however unbalanced.

It's crazy how companies see doing what is right as harder than doing everything else.

Funny too because I don't even think about Target (or Amazon) anymore when considering a purchase.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Whether it's starving kids or growing its fascist police force, the MAGA shutdown is working as planned
ICE isn’t only continuing to spend millions on advertising despite the government shutdown — in some cases it has even ramped up its taxpayer-funded propaganda push.

People say Dems don't do anything... 🔥
rosen is one of the moderates who sincerely wants a bipartisan deal, her being this angry is a good indicator of where they’re all at
Pure 🔥🔥🔥from Sen. Rosen: "This is a Republican shutdown...You are in control of the White House, the House, and the Senate. If you went home to a food bank instead of going to Mar-A-Lago...while people are starving, you might see and hear your constituents. You are blind to the suffering."

All the takes in here...
Schumer failed
Schumer played it perfectly
Schumer got lucky the GOP rejected it
Schumer is working for Trump

LOL
This is a great deal for Republicans, since it would push the ACA cost hikes until after the midterms. On a purely political calculus, would be malpractice not to take this.
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

What will be left of supposed "American Exceptionalism" when everything we've built in the past century has been erased.

Science, Health, Education, Diplomacy, and more... all being thrown on the fire to burn.

Fuck all who help and support this monstrous Trump Administration, this is on you.
I saw this earlier this week but needed time to have a public conversation about it.

Goddard has always been one of my favorite NASA centers. The work they do is so cool and the folks there are incredible.

This truly gutted me. 😢
Reposting to correct an error: trump admin is quietly gutting 13 buildings and about 100 laboratories at Goddard campus that has been instrumental to Hubble and James Webb telescope missions. Staff say they’ve be locked and told to move equipment. Anything left behind will be thrown away.
