About a week ago, I told @helenesallon.bsky.social I would eat my hat if the Syrian rebels were to launch an offensive on Aleppo and seize the city. Now I don't actually own a hat, so I'll probably just have a sandwich instead. But I do want to note for the public record how terribly wrong I was.

Genuine non-ICLawyer (yet) q-to-ICLawyers: Where’s “extermination” (CaH) in the warrants/indictments? How does it relate to “starvation”, jurisprudentially? Is there “starvation” without “extermination” in case law? Citation? Could check myself—&: Post 1 here to elevate the Discourse all-round. Tnx

A huge and very important development—Israeli officials, Netanyahu foremost—have escaped responsibility for their criminal actions for too long. It is not anti-Semitic 2 hold Israeli officials 2 the same very laws of war developed out of the Shoah (Holocaust) when we vowed “never again”.

When the votes are all counted, Trump will likely end up with the narrowest margin of victory since 2000.

Important to keep that in mind when you hear Trump and his bootlickers in the GOP and the media talk about him having a mandate. He doesn't and Democrats need to remember it and act like it.
Column | What the numbers actually say about the 2024 election
In what is likely to be the narrowest margin of victory since 2000, Trump probably benefitted from who stayed home.

I don’t really buy into the idea that we’re building an echo chamber here on Bluesky. This place feels right now like Twitter did circa 2009. If we build a place where everyone wants to be and talk and break news, then it will gain and exercise wider influence.

feels like a good time to say that Redact - redact.dev - allows you to delete your entire DM history

it's not free but if, like me, you used to essentially run your entirely life via Twitter DMs then it may well be a worthwhile investment
Good news: Twitter is collapsing.

And this chart doesn't even show the last two weeks—which have seen the largest exodus in site history.

There are reports from Newsweek and others that Twitter may merge with Truth Social.

If that happens, the last collapse of Twitter may happen almost overnight.

Getting a ton of questions so:

Bluesky was founded and originally funded by Twitter so it doesn’t have a “founder.” Jack was on the board but did not invest in it personally. It has other investors. It makes money through VC funding and custom domains (see below).
Folks Jack Dorsey has zero to do with Bluesky. Early on he was spouting his usual bullshit about unmoderated platforms and the users chased him off the site. (He doesn’t believe in moderation but can’t handle getting yelled at.) Not long after that he quit the board and washed his hands of the site.

Okay, one more random tip for newbies: if someone quote-skeets (yes, they're called skeets, shut up) you in a way to dunk on your or annoy you, you can "detach" your skeet from the quote, so that it no longer shows.

This is also useful in ending brigading attacks.

In bold are the two House yays headed to the Senate (Gallego did not vote) and Brad Schneider, one of the two Democratic original co-sponsors.

Oddly, the other Dem orginal co-sponsor Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada was a no.

The lone Republican no was as predicted Thomas Massie of Kentucky.
