Okay. I don't love AI art, but as far as I know, there's only one AI image on the whole site, meant ironically. Is that what you're referring to?

Just wanted to remind you all that ICI has a long-standing policy to not advocate that anyone use violence except in accordance with the rule of law (e.g. police actions, self-defense).

Understandably, many people scoffed at the first (or second, or hundredth) mention of California secession. And it's never properly been studied, because why would we?

But the burner only gets so hot before you jerk your hand away. Suddenly New West America doesn't seem so farfetched or silly.

I never said it was “an idyllic land.” 🤣 If you don’t like my source, you can look it up yourself & find lots of articles that say secession in Calif has become a hot topic. You’ve never met anyone who has considered it? Congratulations on having a narrow group of friends. No need to respond.
A list of some of the many recent articles commenting on the fact that many people are talking wistfully about secession in California.

As blue states prepare to deny federal agents access to their databases, their highways, maybe even their airspace, the soft secession isn’t coming.

It’s here.

Right now, I’m liking the looks of this flag even more. He lost to Putin and lives in an altered state of reality, no pun intended.

Without calling for blue state secession, I will say this:

I think we either find a way to get rid of the Electoral College and the other baked in aspects of our constitutional system that give rabid white Christians disproportionate power, or the country will inevitably split at some point
robynelyse.bsky.social
As much as I fully understand that it's problematic to wish we could split into two countries, because obviously there are lots of non-MAGA people in red states and vice versa ... It's hard not to wish we could just magic all of the non-horrible people into one area a split the fuck off today.

I'm a Californian and I wouldn't have a problem with leaving the Union. California is a Country in its own right and would be fine on our own. Fed up supporting Red States and getting spit on. Let them eat Our Tariffs!

There’s only one type of American who still trusts the Supreme Court
A new poll shows public support for the Supreme Court at its lowest point ever.

That's *sort of* why I support California independence.

Which do you think the United States is more likely to do: let California go, or fix its own broken Constitution?

Why do we let fascists who hate us rule us from three time zones away?

They don't understand our open and inclusive culture, and they are terrorizing us by attacking the lives, families, communities, and workers who make us strong and rich.

Let's get out of this dying fascist empire!

As someone who's been involved in the movement for a long time, no one thinks this guy (or Marcus Evans) is the leader.

Secession is unlikely to pass if it gets on the ballot (44% yes, 54% no), but there is plenty of support for CA independence more broadly. See ic.institute/poll
Poll: Californians ready to govern themselves, stop just short of secession - Independent California Institute
50% of Californians say they trust Sacramento more than Washington—only 23% say the reverse. 71% say California would be better off with special autonomous status within the U.S. 44% of Californians w...

Local media obtained a poll showing California voters approving a potential Democratic redistricting amendment by 52-41 and included the poll’s ballot question wording below.

Ballot measures can be notoriously difficult to poll, though
In the virtual meeting, state lawmakers were shown polling around the possible ballot measure that could be presented to voters in the November special election which had 52% of those polled voting yes, 41% no, and 7% undecided.

In screen shots of the polling obtained by KCRA 3, the proposed ballot initiative would say: "Retains California's Citizens Redistricting Commission and declares state policy supporting use of fair, non-partisan redistricting commission nationwide. Adopts new California congressional districts passed by the Legislature for use in congressional elections through 2030. Retains California's original congressional district maps if Texas or other states also retain their original district maps."
