This is from my daughter - a talented graphic designer (not that I'm biased at all...)
Made some art. Use it anywhere for anything. I will be making more and eventually turn them into a zine and maybe stencils. Fuck these guys.

Another clue that we have slipped into an alternative timeline: I have tried twice now to make oatmeal in the microwave the same way I have made it for years - according to the directions given. It just doesn't work anymore. I threw it away the first time, this time I cooked it longer on the stove.

Shout out to the Phoenicia Diner on this week's episode of Severance!

Also, I wish I had gotten to know John Turturro better when we lived in the same dorm at New Paltz.

guys don’t look at the tv, eyes over here. it’s a bubble slowly freezing outside in the snow. (alt text) the frost starts in two spots and starts to spread over the bubble in real time. then the frost completely encapsulates the bubble. it’s pretty. slow breaths watching this.

I wonder if this week's SNL will have a bit about a brain worm?

I was waiting for a red cap at Chicago Union Station yesterday when a soft spoken Amish man came up to me and asked if I would make a phone call for him. I said of course. He said he went to the customer service desk and they would not help him. I find that shameful.

At the moment social media is very much like a high school cafeteria, which each instance being a table:

Mastodon: Tech nerds
Threads: Popular crowd
Bluesky: Weirdos and stoners
TikTok: Theater kids
Former Twitter: Incels and trolls
Facebook: Teachers and staff
This is hilarious, given how much of mastodon is dunking on Bluesky for being influencers

Most cats have boundaries and you have to earn their consent. I don't have any academic studies or anything to back this up, but in my 46 years of life I've found that when people hate cats it's usually a red flag that they have boundary and consent issues that extend to their human relationships.
I really loathe how "cool" it is to hate cats. Cat haters suck, even the ones who are "just joking".

Daylight Saving Time is increasingly hard to notice when my digital devices are like, "What? Nothing happened. We know what time it is."

And my stove is left blinking and screaming, "IT HAPPENED! TIME SHIFTED UNNATURALLY! THEY'RE ALL LYING! ONLY I KNOW! ONLY I REMEMBER!"

If you have a dubious superpower, what is it? I mean a superpower that isn't that impressive and can be annoying. I have two. I can tell when a low pressure system is moving in by the aches and pains in my body, and I can detect typos wherever I am in signs or print materials.

The state of road repairs in Michigan right now can best be described by the movie title "Everything Everywhere All At Once". I'm trying not to complain because the roads badly needed to be fixed and road repair season is short.

I really don't like musicals. However, I loved the musical episode of Strange New Worlds. I had no idea so many cast members were accomplished vocalists! I also thought the music was very well written.

A father and his 7ish yo daughter were shopping at Trader Joe at the same time I was. A catchy song came on and the little girl started dancing while pushing her little cart. The dad saw, and started dancing too. They went down to the end of the aisle dancing together while pushing their carts..

I saved a fly from drowning in my glass of water this evening. I was in a restaurant. Does this make me a hero or a villain?

I guess it depends on whether you're the fly or the restaurant owner.

This is Maude. Today she caught a mouse and brought it inside. Bad Maude. The mouse scurried under the stove and I successfully and safely caught it in a humane trap baited with peanut butter within 15 minutes. I brought it outside and it ran off unscathed. Naughty Maudie.

I got my second shingles vax a week ago and the night after I got it my cat seemed oddly fascinated with the arm that received the shot. She sniff sniff sniffed all over my upper arm until she located the exact spot of the injection, then pressed her cold wet nose on it for 30 seconds.
