Liverpool's points-per-game average equates to 90 over a full season.

Arsenal now need to finish with W15 D1 L0 to reach 90.

Most Arsenal can get now is 92. We get to decide where the finishing line is.

Aston Villa are a good side, but you can’t be throwing away a 2-0 lead at home to them straight after hearing what Liverpool did and try to paint yourselves as a better team.

Any time Arsenal get mentioned as a threat to us winning the league I just think of this meme.

How fucked off would you be if you were Arsenal hearing we won it like that?

On Darwin Núñez, I do hope he can kick on and start in the next few. You’d expect him to start against Lille on Tuesday. Would be great if he stays sharp and involved.

I thought Trent looked bright today. Decent defensively and going forward and finally got that eye of the needle pass I was hoping for.
Feels like a day we could use a bit of Trent magic. A cute little pass through the eye of a needle or a goal from a set piece.

Well well well.

We’ve had 13 corners and, beyond Ibou’s chance earlier on, we’ve not created any decent chances from them. We really need to get this set-piece coach sorted with assets like Konaté and Virg in the team.

First real cold spell of the season for Liverpool: two open-play goals from 5.6 xG over their last five halves.

We’ve created some decent chances, just lacking the final flourish. If can we turn it up a few notches in the second half like we tend do, I’m hopeful we can take the lead early doors in the second half.

Ooft, Kerkez. Sign him up Liverpool.

Newcastle United again concede from excellent pressing by Bournemouth. Another brilliant finish from Kluivert, who’s been bright, and also now has more two goals at St James Park than his da managed.

Joelinton is reminiscent of Casemiro in terms of players who get away with absolute murder.
January 18, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Newcastle United look to carry on this theme of soaking up pressure then going all out from 20.

That goal from Bournemouth was very pretty. The overload on Newcastle United’s left side then those short passes pulling players everywhere. Neat finish too.

Quite enjoying Utd’s keeper going mental at the officials, asking them to go to VAR in a game that has no VAR.

That’s me cursed Fraser Forster after praising him on @theanfieldwrap.bsky.social’s Midweek Extra today. You’re welcome.

This is, quite frankly, outrageous. Can’t believe the footy media isn’t talking up our manager as some kind of super genius miracle brain, but happy enough that it’s going under the radar.
20 - Arne Slot has won 20 of his 24 games in charge of Liverpool in all competitions (D3 L1), the joint-fastest any manager has reached 20 wins in charge of English top-flight clubs, alongside William Sudell with Preston in 1888-89. Blocks.

You have to say that’s some result after resting so many players and getting minutes into legs of players who will 100% contribute down the line in the next few weeks.

A lot will be said about the lads but one must also point out to the manager group. They dealt with going down a player in a calm manner( no immediate substitution!) and once again managed to reverse an unfavourable situation in the second half.
