The "Post-COVID-19 Cognitive Impairment" section in the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine report is worthy of reflection.

As is the question of why we don't hear about it from the institutions that told us it was safe to ignore COVID.

That begs the question: why has everyone lost their damn minds?

And the answer I think is Phone x COVID x Neoliberalism = everyone is insane.

I feel like one of the most underrated explanations for what's happening right now in global politics is that almost everyone has lost their minds.

If the president gives you an illegal order, you need to follow it. If a judge gives you a legal order you don't like, try this one weird trick: call 'em "activist."

My law firm is currently litigating 11 redistricting cases in 10 states. We are also litigating an additional 54 voting and election cases in 27 states.

This is as many cases as we typically handle going into the final months of the election. 2026 will almost certain be a record breaking year.

In 2025, the Trump administration and GOP officials in key states have viciously targeted the voting rights of naturalized citizens with new access barriers, selective surveillance and intimidatory rhetoric — signaling that the full promises of citizenship, for many, remain unattainable.

Sort of funny that the UK government will make its companies and citizens pay £150 million per month in subsidies to an EU government for 35 years :)

At an annual production of 25 million MWh (3.2 GW in baseload), I'd say that's £1.9 billion per year in subsidies. For the next 35 years. And a bit more if power prices don't rise with inflation, as the strike price does.

When the UK's new nuclear power plant Hinkley Point C starts to produce power in 2030, its guaranteed 'strike price' will have risen to ~150 £/MWh (170 €/MWh). Average wholesale electricity prices will probably be around half of that, so that's a 50% subsidy.
