Ange proved himself to be the most pragmatic of managers. The PL season was toast by the new year. We were out of the domestic cups, so he concentrated on the only thing we could win.

This season we have at least addressed a lot of the holes in the squad, so less of an excuse.

Even if he did explicitly say not to worry about the league, that's more on Levy and the board for having no plan for years.

If anything, instead of beating Ange with "17th" stick, we should look at how much courage it took to give Levy the v when he was obsessed with league position over glory.

YEARS we went without a sense of belief in the team. Ange totally overhauled the culture, told them they could do it, made them all believe it, and they won.

English football just hates Ange. People are easily swayed by cultural prejudices and truisms about what ‘pragmatic’ or ‘attacking’ football is.
